The Indian contingent has been doing the nation proud in the ongoing 2023 Asian Games. India’s medal tally has already crossed 50 with each and every athlete making history. In the middle of such glorious times, there is a huge controversy that has erupted.

Indian athlete Swapna Barman has courted controversy for her rather questionable tweet. The 26-year-old though took down the tweet but not before fans caught her in the act. What made this act even more sad was the fact that the athlete she wrote about is also an Indian.

As of the 9th day of the event, India already has 13 Gold Medals. The Indian contingent has also won 21 silver medals and 22 bronze medals. The People’s Republic of China leads the medals tally by a comprehensive margin.

The tweet was later deleted but many fans had to grab a screenshot of the same. India’s Nandini Agasara won the Bronze Medal in what was a huge moment for Indian athletics. Swapna Barman won the gold medal during the last Asian Games which was held in 2018.

The 26-year-old had spoken to BRIDGE and had once exclaimed “Transgender athletes, who have testosterone levels above 2.5, cannot compete in events over 200 meters. No girl can come up in a heptathlon so fast. I have trained for 13 years in this, it is impossible that she trains for four months and gets to this level”

Indian Men’s Cricket Team will start their campaign on Tuesday. Ruturaj Gaikwad and his side will face Nepal in the quarter-finals.
