The much-awaited ODI World Cup 2023 is scheduled to kick off in October. The first match will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, where the two finalists from the last edition, England and New Zealand will lock horns with each other. The venues for the knockout games and semi-final have been announced. The final is set to be hosted by Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

The Indian Cricket Board chief selector, Ajit Agarkar, along with skipper Rohit Sharma, announced the squad for the upcoming mega event in the press conference which took place in Sri Lanka. The 15-member squad is the same as the squad that was selected for Asia Cup 2023. Only two members have been excluded from the team, Tilak Varma, and a seamer from Karnataka, Prasidh Krishna.

5. Prasidh Krishna:

The right-arm seamer, Prasidh Krishna recently recovered from injury and got into the Indian squad for the ongoing 16th edition of the Asia Cup after being ruled out from the sport for a long period of time due to injury. With the return of star India bowler, Jasprit Bumra back to the squad from injury and Mohammad Shami and Mohammad Siraj performing really well for the Men in Blue, the chances of Krishna playing in the team have reduced.

4. Sanju Samson:

The right-hand batter from Kerela, Sanju Samson has not been selected in the 15-member squad for the ODI World Cup 2023 squad as there are already two wicketkeeoer-batters in the Team India squad - KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan. The Rajasthan Royals skipper has played 13 ODIs and scored 390 runs at an average of 55.71 and a strike rate of 104 with the help of three half-centuries for the Men in Blue.

3. Ravichandran Ashwin:

Star India bowler Ravichandran Ashwin has been dropped from the squad of Team India for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, which is scheduled to take place later this year in the month of October and November in India. Earlier, the veteran off-spinner has played two World Cups for Team India in 2011 and 2015. The 36-year-old has played in 113 ODIs and has bagged 151 wickets for his national team.

2. Yuzvendra Chahal:

India leg-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal has been India's top spinner in the last few years for the Men in Blue. Chahal has 121 wickets in 72 ODIs at an economy rate of 5.27, and was part of India's squad during the 2019 ODI World Cup. He did not have a good West Indies tour because of which he was not selected for the ongoing 16th edition of the Asia Cup.

One of the greatest batters of the ODI format, Shikhar Dhawan has been ignored by the selectors for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 which is scheduled to take place later this year in the month of October and November in India. The left-hand opener has scored 6793 runs at an average of 44.11 and a strike rate of 91.35.
