India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has raised the question about umpiring standards after the third ODI against Bangladesh. The Women In Blue and the home side, Bangladesh played the third and final ODI of the series on July 22. The series was leveled 1-1 after the visitors defended a low total in the second game. Meanwhile, in the series decider, the Green Brigade batted first after winning the toss.
They kept playing with the same pace and build important partnerships as the wicket was difficult to bat on. They amassed 225/4 at the end of their innings. Opening batters, Shamina Sultana (52) and Fargana Hoque (107) helped the team to reach this total. In reply, despite losing Shafali Varma and Yastika Bhatia early. The likes of vice-captain, Smriti Mandhana (59) and Harleen Deol (77) were taking the team home.
Apart from them Jemimah Rodrigues (33) also was ensuring that the team wins the game comfortably. At one stage, they were sitting at 191/4. However, they lost the last six wickets for just 34 runs. This is why the game ended in a tie, and also the series.
We have to deal with this kind of umpiring: Harmanpreet Kaur
The Mumbai Indians skipper in the WPL wasn't happy with the umpiring in the game. Some of the decisions turned out to be poor. After the game, the India skipper called out the umpiring.
"I think a lot of learning for us from the game. Even apart from the cricket, the kind of umpiring that was happening we were very surprised. The next time when we come to Bangladesh we will make sure we have to deal with this type of umpiring and prepare ourselves accordingly.
"They (Bangladesh) batted really well, batted according to the situation. They were taking those singles which were very crucial. In between we leaked a few runs but when we were batting, we controlled the game very well but as I mentioned earlier some pathetic umpiring was done and we are really disappointed about some decisions given by the umpires.
This is how Twitter reacted

Such an unprofessional statement. She was clearly out, so was Meghna Singh. Yes, Yastika lbw was controversial but part of the game. Not cool from an experienced player and a respected individual.

How many controversial decisions went against them? All 10? We have been suffering this controversial decisions for ages. We suffers from poor umpiring whenever we play any match against Ind in multinational tournaments. Latest edition Ind A & Ban A in emerging asia cup.

Love this. Call out the miserable umpires, match officials are often protected in all sports despite their consistent horrific officiating.

Never seen any captain crying in front of media like this. There have been way poor umpiring standards in 1990s & 2000s. None of the captains cried like u r crying. Stop this, accept the result and let's move on. All the best for The Hundred.

Not acceptable. This would have attracted a large fine in menโs cricket.

Protest to bad umpiring has to be made via the right channels not in a press conference. Have to stick to professional standards. Hope she will learn from her mistake
Maybe play better cricket next time? The umpiring looked fine to be honest. Your team had two run outs. They need to learn to communicate well.
