After a long wait, the Indian team management is set to announce their squad for the upcoming Asia Cup. According to news reports, the selection committee will chair the meeting on Monday, August 21, in New Delhi. The meeting will be attended by India captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid.

It has also been confirmed that India skipper Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar will address a press conference in Delhi to announce the squad. It will be the first time in the last few years that India will organise a press conference with the skipper to announce a squad. Fans and cricket pundits are expecting that India might announce three squads on Monday.

A 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup will be announced, along with a preliminary squad for the ODI World Cup. One more 15- to 17-member squad will be announced for the three-match ODI series against Australia. It's worth noting that India is the only team that has yet to announce its Asia Cup squad, as all participating countries have already done so.

Will Rahul Dravid attend the press conference?

According to media reports, India head coach Rahul Dravid is set to attend the selection meeting. However, his participation in the press conference has not yet been clarified. The press conference will be organised at 1:30 PM on Monday at a hotel in New Delhi. There are various issues that India needs to address, including the selection and fitness of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah has proved his match fitness, but Iyer and Rahul are yet to make a comeback. India will start their Asia Cup campaign against Pakistan on September 2 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. The tournament will kick off on August 30 with Pakistan taking on Nepal at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan.
