Indian middle-order batter Sanju Samson is currently in action in the 16th edition of the Indian T20 League against the Hyderabad-based franchise. He is captaining the Rajasthan-based for the second time after leading the side in the previous season in which he took the team to the final where they lost the match against Gujarat.

Meanwhile, despite being one of the most successful players in the cash-rich league, Samson couldn't keep his consistency while playing for the national side and never find a permanent place in the squad. However, many fans and former cricketers still want him to be in Team India because of his tremendous skills and talent. Former Indian captain Anil Kumble also said that he wants Samson on the national side.

Anil Kumble showed trust on Bhanuka Rajapaksa in 2022 mega auction

The former cricketer will be seen playing the head coach role for the Punjab-based franchise. Punjab's explosive middle-order batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa was a brilliant addition to the team made by Kumble in the 2022 mega auction, he produced some great performances last season and continued to dominate this season as in their first match, Rajapaksa smashed a fiery half-century against Kolkata. Meanwhile, Punjab's batting consultant Julian Wood and fielding coach Nigel Aaron talked about Rajapaksa's fitness recently.

“When Anil Kumble saw him play, he said I’ve got to pick him. He was told don’t pick him, he’s not fit enough. Fair play to Kumble because he said ‘I don’t care if he’s fit, he can hit the ball for a six. I don’t want him to run a 100m in 10 seconds, I want him to hit the ball for a six." Punjab batting consultant Julian Wood said on Cricbuzz.

“He asked me if it was possible to do it. I said technically it is a strenuous workout because he had to bring the weight down by a certain amount in a month’s time and at the same time retain fitness as well to complete the 2km test. It wasn’t just about bringing the skinfold down but to having that strength to keep going." Nigel Aaron said on Cricbuzz.
