The Indian Cricket Board held a performance review meeting in Mumbai on Sunday. The meeting was attended by Indian Cricket Board President Roger Binny, Honorary Secretary Jay Shah, Team India captain Rohit Sharma, Head Coach Rahul Dravid, the National Cricket Academy chief VVS Laxman and the Chairman of the Selection committee Chetan Sharma.

One of the recommendations that the Indian Cricket Board put through was the introduction of the Yo-Yo Test and Dexa as selection criteria. For the unversed, Dexa is a type of bone density scan. A type of X-ray called dual energy X-ray absorptiometry is passed through the body during the scan.

The Indian Cricket Board also suggested that the emerging players should have a significant amount of experience of playing domestic cricket before being eligible for selection in the Indian team.

In a statement released by the Indian Cricket Board, it announced the key recommendations discussed during the meeting. "The emerging players will have to play a substantial domestic season to be eligible for selection to the national team. The Yo-Yo Test and Dexa will now be part of the selection criteria and implemented in the customized roadmaps of the central pool of players. Keeping in mind the Men’s FTP and preparations for ODI World Cup 2023, the NCA will work in tandem with the Indian T20 League Franchisee to monitor the targeted Indian players participating in the Indian T20 League 2023.”

Workload management of senior players in Indian T20 League was also discussed

The Indian Cricket Board also highlighted on other key points that were discussed during the meeting. "The issues of player availability, workload management and fitness parameters were also discussed at length during the meeting along with the roadmap to the ODI World Cup 2023," Indian Cricket Board added.

The Indian team is currently busy preparing for the T20I series against Sri Lanka that starts on January 3. The 20-over matches will be followed by a three-match ODI series.
