The Indian Premier League 2023 has reached the halfway point, with numerous outstanding performances in the matches so far. There has been no shortage of excitement in the competition, with Faf du Plessis storming at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium and Venkatesh Iyer and Harry Brook scoring stunning hundreds.

While the fight for the Orange Cap becomes more interesting with each match, Bollywood actress Ananya Pandey predicts that Royal Challengers Bangalore's Virat Kohli will finish up as the IPL's leading run-scorer in 2023.

When asked to give her guess, Pandey, who went on Star Sports to promote her film "Dream Girl 2" ahead of the RCB-Kolkata Knight Riders game, did not hesitate to take Virat's name. “I think…this time, it will be (Virat) Kohli,” she told the experts.

The 34-year-old is among the runs this season and is in contention to actually win the award. So far, he has scored 279 runs in 8 matches at an average of 46.5 and a strike rate of 141.6.

RCB faces KKR at their home ground

Meanwhile, this is the third game in this IPL in which Virat Kohli is filling in for RCB regular skipper Faf du Plessis, who will be available only as a batter.
KKR, who have now lost four consecutive games, dropped Kulwant Khejroliya in favour of right-arm bowler Vaibhav Arora.

The two teams have always had a great rivalry and have produced many excellent games. Notably, this is their second encounter of the 2023 season. The first match between the two was played at the Eden Gardens, KKR's home ground.

The home side had humiliated the RCB side with a massive 81-run victory in their last encounter. Bangalore, playing at their home game, will look to do a better job and continue their winning momentum.

In the meantime, fans have been trolling Ananya Pandey for her comments on the former Indian skipper. "Isko Bollywood bhi seriously nahi leta bas itna bolna hai," a user wrote. "Bas aaj under 10 out hain ! Isne bol dia na," another user wrote.
