After a washout against Pakistan, India is set to take on Nepal in their second game of the Asia Cup 2023. On Monday, September 4, India will face Nepal at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. It's worth noting that India needs to win or draw the game to qualify for the Super Four stage.
Ahead of the crucial game, the weather forecast once again troubles Indian fans. According to the latest weather forecast, Pallekele is set to receive moderate to heavy rainfall on Monday. The latest weather reports suggest that there are almost 60% chances of rain throughout the day on Monday. However, the chances of rain during the first half of the game are around 25%, which might allow a timely start to the game.
However, after 6 p.m. IST, the chances of rain increase up to 66%. This means India might once again get just one-half of the game. This means they will need to play exceptionally well to avoid any DLS issues. It's worth noting that if the match gets washed out, then India will directly qualify for the Super Four as they have a point from the previous game.
Indian batters once again failed against a quality pace attack
Talking about the previous game against Pakistan, the Indian top order failed to bat against quality pacers. After winning the toss, India skipper Rohit Sharma opted to bat first. However, his decision didn't go well with the team, as India lost four wickets for just 66 runs. Pakistan pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf cliched these wickets.
Despite that, Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan and all-rounder Hardik Pandya batted exceptionally and led India to a comfortable position. However, the match was abandoned due to rain, and both teams earned a point. With this, Pakistan qualified for the Super 4, while India will face Nepal in a do-or-die game.
Here is how fans react to the India vs. Nepal weather forecast:
