India and Sri Lanka clashed against each other in the second match of the three-match T20 series on Thursday, January 5 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association, Pune. Sri Lanka have eked out a win in the end. It was a game of thin margins going into the last over despite India needing 20 to win.

Talking about the match, India invited Sri Lanka to put runs on the scoreboard after winning the toss. However, their decision backfired as Sri Lanka started belting every ball out of the boundary line. Openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendes stitched a magnificent 80-run stand for the first wicket.

However, later, skipper Dasun Shanaka and the no-balls became the headline of the first innings. Sri Lanka ended with a huge 206 after 20 overs. They were 138 for 6 when Shanaka decided to go bonkers. He was caught off a no-ball and post that, just upped his game.

India were forced to tend to their own self-inflicted wounds and left with 207 to chase down. Earlier, Lanka started off on a quick note even as well as Arshdeep's return proved to be a nightmare with him bowling 5 no-balls in his two-over spell.

Axar Patel and Suryakumar Yadav's brilliant efforts went in vein

Axar Patel was the only standout performer for the Indian Team as he took 2 wickets and conceded only 24 runs in his 4-over quota. Umran Malik took 3 wickets for the team but was quite expensive as he conceded 48 runs. Last match’s hero Shivam Mavi had nothing to provide to the team and went wicketless after conceding 53 runs in 4 overs.

Chasing the target, India started really badly as they lost their 5 wickets on the score of just 57 runs. Axar Patel and Suryakumar Yadav tried hard to chase the target but couldn’t take the team to the win as India lost the match by 16 runs.
