The Indian team is currently playing the ODI series against New Zealand, but everyone's eyes are set on the Test series against Australia to be held in February. This series is going to be very important to reach the final of the World Test Championship. There is a debate about who gets a chance in Team India and who doesn't. Meanwhile, the young sensation, Sarfaraz Khan is making a lot of headlines for the last few days.
Sarfaraz has scored a lot of runs in domestic cricket, and he is living up to the standards of scoring runs consistently and scoring big. However, he is not getting entry into the Test squad. The right-handed batter is just 25 years old, but looking at his record in domestic cricket, it seems as if he has been playing cricket for a long time.
Even at such a young age, he has scored a flurry of centuries but is not getting a chance in Team India. The argument is also being given that he will have to be more prepared for the middle order of Team India, but the figures testify something else.
Fitness is the major concern for Sarfaraz Khan
Recently he scored a century in Ranji Trophy 2023 a couple of days earlier and managed to become part of the sports headlines. The ton arrived just three days after he was handed yet another selection snub from the Indian Test team, this time for the Border-Gavaskar series set to commence on February 9.
Meanwhile, a few years ago his father, during an interaction with Indian Express, Sarfaraz's father narrated an emotional story involving him and his son where the latter would envy the privileges and riches possessed by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar.
“Abbu, Arjun kitna naseebwala hai na? He’s Sachin sir’s son, and has cars, I-pads, everything,” remarked a young Sarfaraz as quoted by his father.
Father Naushad was short of words and gave a confirmation nod to his son, but was in for some moments filled with pride when Sarfaraz came running towards him to give him a warm hug and exclaim, “I’m more fortunate than him. You can devote the entire day to me. His father is not able to give him any time.”
