When it comes to the battle for the top two spots in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are once again in charge of their own fate. Unless Lucknow Super Giants defeat Kolkata Knight Riders by a significant margin, CSK should be guaranteed a spot in qualifier one with a victory over the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a picture is getting viral on social media in which a fan can be seen gifting a miniature of the MA Chidambaram Stadium to CSK skipper and former legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni. The wicketkeeper-batter has a massive fan following in Chennai as he led CSK to the championship title four times.
Dhoni makes the team better with the decisions: Kevin Pietersen
Meanwhile, former legendary England cricketer Kevin Pietersen also talked about Dhoni’s fanbase after his experience during Dhoni’s lap of honour and said that the stadium was completely full till the end of the event. He also said that it will be shocking if this is his last season. Pietersen continued heaping praise on Dhoni and appreciated his keeping skills as well.
“I was there for Dhoni’s lap of honour on Sunday, and it was incredible to see how the stadium stayed completely full. I'd be extremely surprised if this is his last season. I think this impact player rule actually helps him tremendously, where he can keep for 20 overs and bat wherever he wants to bat,” Pietersen was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
“He makes the team better with the decisions he makes as a captain, and his keeping has been tremendous. It’s not like he takes a batting position up, because he tends to come in at seven, eight or nine to whack a few deliveries. He’ll have the opportunity for eight or nine months of rest, sort his knee out, and get himself fit and ready for another season. I hope it's not the last we see of Dhoni, and I know everybody in the country would want him to play another season,” Pietersen added.
