Three matches are played in the inaugural season of the Women's T20 League so far and all of them have been very spectacular. Many records were made in all three matches, three teams won, and two teams faced defeat. In the first match, Mumbai beat Gujarat by 143 runs and in the second match, Delhi beat Bangalore by 60 runs. The third match was played between UP and Gujarat, in which the Sneh Rana-led side once again had to face defeat.
Mumbai are currently at the top of the points table of the Women's T20 League with 2 points and an impressive net run rate of 7.150. While Delhi captured the second spot with 2 points and an excellent net run rate of 3.00. The UP-based franchise are at no.3 in the points table. UP started the tournament with a nail-biting victory by defeating Gujarat in the third match of the tournament, which helped them take the third position in the points table with 2 points and a net run rate of 0.37.
Kim gave away a lot of boundaries in the last over to Sneh Rana after Gujarat's second defeat
Smriti Mandhana's Bangalore played one match, in which they had to face an embarrassing defeat. They are currently at no.4 with zero points and a net run rate of -3.00. Meanwhile, the Gujarat-based franchise is the only team who have played 2 matches so far and faced defeat in both. Due to this, they are currently present at the bottom with zero points and a net run rate of -3.77.
Gujarat suffered a huge blow when their regular skipper Beth Mooney got injured in the first match and missed out on the second match due to the injury. Sneh Rana got the responsibility to lead the team in her absence but she couldn’t turn the team’s fortune as they faced the second loss of the tournament.
“Disappointed with the loss, but proud of the girls, especially after last night's loss. Kim gave away a lot of boundaries in the last over, we lost there. The girls played well, we were ready for the challenge and proud of them. I enjoyed my leadership, I enjoy being the leader.”
