Australia defeated India by 10 wickets in the second One-Day International at the YS Raja Reddy Cricket Stadium in Vishakapatnam on Sunday after getting a target of 118 runs. Australia easily reached 121/0 in 11 overs while chasing 118 thanks to Mitchell Marsh's undefeated 66 runs off 36 balls, which included six fours and six sixes.

Travis Head, meanwhile, scored 51 runs off 30 balls in an undefeated performance that included 10 fours. India was initially dismissed for 117 runs in 26 overs. After 29 runs from 29 balls, Axar Patel, India's star all-rounder, remained undefeated. In the meantime, Mitchell Starc struck early in the first over to dismiss Shubman Gill for a two-ball duck.

Mitchell Starc was awarded the 'Man of the Match' for his 5-wicket haul

The bowler struck twice in the fifth over to get rid of Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma. KL Rahul was also removed by Starc in the ninth over. Hardik Pandya was sent to the pavilion by Sean Abbott. Later in the game, Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed in the 20th over after Nathan Ellis removed Virat Kohli in the 16th. Then, in the same over, Abbott struck twice to eliminate Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav (25th). After removing Axar for his fourth wicket, Starc finished the Indian innings in the 26th over with five wickets to his name.

For India, only four batters could reach double-figure scores. With 31 off 35, Virat Kohli remained the highest scorer, followed by Axar Patel's crucial run-a-ball 29 to take India over the 100-run mark. Starc caused a rampage over the Indian top order as he picked up the first four wickets of the game even before India could cross the 50-run margin.

If Australia wins the ongoing ODI series against India, they will become the number one ranked ODI side of the world. Earlier in the tour, Australia lost the coveted four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series 2-1, with one Test remaining a tie. This is Australia's third consecutive loss at the hands of India in terms of Test series. The two teams will again face each other in the Global Test Championship final in June at the Oval, to be played between June 7 and 11.
