Ace Indian spinner Anil Kumble believes that pacer Arshdeep Singh and wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan are the next big things in Indian cricket. Kumble, who previously worked with Arshdeep, during the Indian T20 League, praised the fast bowler for contributing to the success of his country.
Speaking with "Jio Cinema," Kumble said,
"Having worked closely with someone like Arshdeep, it’s wonderful to see him grow into what he’s done for India." "I would look at Arshdeep as the next superstar bowler coming through." Kumble also praised the Wicketkeeper's batter, Kishan.
"From a batting perspective, Ishan Kishan has been wonderful with the opportunities he’s had." "He got a double hundred, and he’s someone who I think will be a superstar," Kumble said. Kishan, who scored a double hundred against Bangladesh last year, is struggling to find rhythm in the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand. In his last 13 T20 international innings, Kishan has failed to score a half-century.
Parthiv Patel sees Umran Malik as the next superstar of Indian cricket
Other than Anil Kumble, former wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel also named his two future superstars of Indian cricket. Patel named young gun Umran Malik and middle-order batter Tilak Varma as the next superstars of the game.
"Umran is a quick bowler who has already represented India. He’s someone who can be a superstar. Batting-wise, having seen Tilak Varma in the last couple of years, I had the opportunity to scout him and see the cricketer he has become. We’ve seen his batting ability, and he can go on and lead the side. "He's someone who comes across as a leader," Patel said during the conversation with Jio Cinema.
Recently, in an Instagram post, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also hailed 20-year-old Tilak Varma and called him the future of Indian cricket. Notably, Varma was praised widely for his heroic performances in the Indian T20 League. The southpaw finished as the second-highest run scorer for the Mumbai Indians with 397 runs from 14 games.
Many have been amazed by the young batter’s hitting prowess in domestic cricket as well. He played in a first-class match against Bangladesh A in November last year after his consistent play earned him a position in the India A team.
