India and Australia are set to clash against each other in the Test Championship final on June 7 at the Oval in London. Almost every player has left for England and also started their preparations. On the other hand, some players are still busy in the ongoing 16th edition of the Indian Premier League, however, the final will be played on May 28 and the remaining players will also leave for England

Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was a part of the Test championship final squad for India as a stand-by player, will miss out on the final due to his marriage. The Indian Cricket Board has named Yashasvi Jaiswal as his replacement. The 21-year-old was picked by the head coach Rahul Dravid as Gaikwad is unable to join the team before June 5.

“He (Jaiswal) will be joining the Indian team as Gaikwad has informed us that he won’t be able to fly due to his marriage. He would be able to join the team post-June 5. (But) Coach Rahul Dravid took a call, asking the selectors to pick a replacement. So, Jaiswal will now fly to London soon,” an Indian Cricket Board official was quoted as saying by NDTV18 sports.

The left-handed opener Jaiswal performed brilliantly in the IPL 2023. He has scored 625 runs in 14 matches played this season with an outstanding average of 48.07. This season, Jaiswal has scored 5 fifties as well as 1 century. During this, he batted with a strike rate of 148.73. Meanwhile, Jaiswal has already started preparing to go to England, which will be his first-ever international tour.
