Ahead of India's second group game against Nepal in the Asia Cup 2023, star wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul has been declared medically fit for the tournament. Rahul is set to fly to Sri Lanka for the second round of the continental championship. It's worth noting that India went without Rahul for the group stage as he had yet to achieve the desired match fitness.

Meanwhile, according to the latest news report published by The Indian Express, the medical team of the National Cricket Academy has cleared Rahul. According to the report, Rahul has cleared all fitness tests except Yo-Yo and will now fly to Sri Lanka. It's worth noting that KL Rahul's comeback might affect Indian team combinations. In the first game against Pakistan, the Indian batting line-up didn't fire at all.

It's worth noting that KL Rahul, along with his wife and Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty, visited a temple for divine blessings. In the latest pictures, Rahul and Athiya can be seen offering prayers at the Ghati Subramanya Swamy Temple near Bengaluru. The temple is famous for gods like Khetu, Karthikeya, and Narshimha. It will be interesting to see if India drops Ishan Kishan to entertain KL Rahul in the XI, as Kishan has been performing consistently in the last few months.

Further reports revealed that Indian team management and selectors have finalised the 15-member squad for the ODI World Cup. According to the report, India might drop wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, and Prasidh Krishna from their Asia Cup squad. It's worth noting that Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar chaired a selection committee meeting on Saturday.

After the meeting, Agarkar flew to Sri Lanka to meet India skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid. As India's game against Pakistan washed out, Agarkar met with both Rahul and Rohit. The trio discussed the fitness status and team selection for the ODI World Cup. Apart from this, Agarkar also conveyed to team management that the World Cup squad will be announced on September 5 instead of September 4.
