India's women's 10m air pistol team, comprising Esha Singh, Palak, and Divya Thadigol, secured the silver medal in the team event at the ongoing Asian Games 2023 on Friday. The Indian trio collectively scored 1731 points, placing them in the second position, with China seizing the gold with a total of 1736 points. Chinese Taipei secured the third spot with 1723 points, earning them the bronze.

Subsequently, the men's team, featuring Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Swapnil Sunil Kusale, and Akhil Sheoran, emulated their female counterparts by clinching the gold in the men's 50m rifle 3P team event. Aishwary Pratap later added to his medal haul, securing a silver in the men's 50m rifle 3P individual event.

Asian Games 2023: China surpasses 100 gold medals

In the fiercely contested women's 10m air pistol individual final, the podium belonged solely to India as Indian shooters secured both the gold and silver medals. Palak emerged as the gold medalist with an impressive score of 242.1 points, while her compatriot Esha Singh claimed the silver medal with 239.7 points.

Additionally, the Indian women's squash team, consisting of Joshna Chinappa, Tanvi Khanna, and Anahat Singh, secured the bronze medal despite a hard-fought 1-2 loss to Hong Kong in the semifinals. The day concluded with Kiran Baliyan earning a bronze medal in the women's shot put with an impressive throw of 17.36m in her third attempt.

Meanwhile, China achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first and only team to surpass the 100-gold medal mark, with their overall medal tally reaching an impressive 200 medals.
