India’s second-string cricket side is currently in Hangzhou, China. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s side won the gold medal in the ongoing Asian Games 2023. They played Afghanistan in the final of the Asian Games. Due to rain, the match was washed out and the Indian team was awarded the gold medal due to a pre-decided rule in the event. They got bye directly to the quarterfinals as they ranked higher alongside, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. 

India defeated Nepal by 23 runs and beat Bangladesh in the semis. The final was halted when Afghanistan was batting at 112/5 in 18.2 overs as the rain poured down heavily. Arshdeep Singh and Shivam Dube each took a wicket. Ravi Bishnoi and Shahbaz Ahmed were among those who took wickets. As the rain began to fall steadily, the contest was never resumed.

All of the cricketers were seen celebrating after earning a gold medal. Ravi Bishnoi, together with two pacers Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh, were ecstatic after earning gold. They were seen dancing and singing the 83 movie song 'Lehra Do' in a viral video.

India ready to face Australia in World Cup opener

India ended their Asian Games campaign in Hangzhou with a record 107 medals, including 28 gold, 38 silver, and 41 bronze. This massive milestone for India's growing prominence in the world of sports. Earlier, the Indian women’s cricket team won the gold medal at the Asian Games by defeating Sri Lanka in the final. The Harmanpreet Kaur’s side had a hard-fought game against the Lankan women. India in the Asian Games has achieved a milestone by winning 107 medals and breaking all their previous records. 

India is set to open their World Cup campaign against Australia, in MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The Men in Blue have not won any major trophy since 2013, they are the hot favourites to win it this time. Rohit Sharma would like to win his first major trophy as a captain for India. There is a 20% chance of precipitation in Chennai, but fans hope to see a full 50-over match.
