Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi claimed that his team was attacked after winning a Test match against India in Bengaluru in 2005. In the game, the Green Brigade batted first and amassed 570 all-out, thanks to Younis Khan (267) and Inzamam-ul-Haq (184). Both put together 324 runs for the third wicket after losing two wickets for seven runs. Harbhajan Singh took six wickets for India.

In reply, the home team, India amassed 449 all-out, thanks to Virender Sehwag (201), and VVS Laxman (79). The team trailed by 121 runs after the first innings. In the second innings, Pakistan's top-order did better with Afridi scoring 26-ball fifty and the team reached 261/2D, setting 383 for India to win. The home team, after having a decent start, was bowled out for 214, losing the game by 168 runs

18 years after this Test, the T20 World Cup 2009 winner claimed that the team was attacked by the fans.

“That was a pressure moment for us. We used to hit six and fours and no one used to clap for us. If Abdul Razzaq remembers, when we won the Test match in Bangalore, stones were pelted on our bus. Pressure is always there and you should enjoy that pressure. Players are saying that Pakistan should not go to India. I am totally against it. I think we should go there and win the match,” said Afridi said during the launch of Sindh Premier League.

Our bench strength should be strong: Shahid Afridi

During another interview, the former all-rounder talked about the team combination for the 2023 ODI World Cup. He raised a question what if the main bowlers aren't able to play, then who will be the back-up?.

“If the main bowlers are not in the team, who will be their backup? Therefore, I’ve been saying for a long period of time that we should focus on building two teams,” Afridi said.

“Our bench strength should be strong. Pakistan team should run even without Babar and Shaheen,” he reiterated.
