Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi has turned up for Welsh Fire in the ongoing The Hundred Men's Competition 2023. He played for Nottingham Outlaws in the T20 Blast won by Somerset. Afridi recently turned up for the two-match series against Sri Lanka in which his side won 2-0. With the international assignment for the time being, he started his The Hundred career with a bang.

In his debut game against Manchester Originals, he took two back-to-back to start off his journey. In the rain-curtailed 40-ball game (eight overs game as the five balls in this competition will complete an over), the Men In Black, Manchester won the toss and elected to bowl first. Thanks to Luke Wells (57) and Glenn Phillips (19), the Men In Red reached 94/3 at the end of the innings.

In reply, the visitors, Manchester had a poor start as Afridi took two back-to-back wickets. Both were lbw's in the form of Phil Salt and Laurie Evans.

Shaheen Afridi got hit for the rest of his bowling

In the first over he bowled (consisting of five balls) took two wickets, bowled a dot, and conceded a four and a double respectively. However, for the unversed, in this competition, a bowler can bowl two back-to-back overs. As it turned out, the former U19 player got hit for four fours and a double.

However, his Pakistani teammate, Haris Rauf and England international, David Willey managed to restrict the opposition to 85/4 in the end. Despite Jos Buttler's late heroics, the Originals lost the game by nine runs. Talking about Rauf's bowling, he conceded only a four and a six in his 10-ball spell. On the other hand, despite getting beaten by his national side skipper, Willey took two wickets that also mattered in the end.

Notably, the rain didn't let the Women's game between both teams happen. Meanwhile, after he 2021, the Cardiff-based Welsh Fire has won a game in the competition as they remained winless last year.
