Indian faced off Australia in the third Test of the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore which started on March 1. The Indian team suffered an embarrassing 9-wicket loss on Day 3. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar and Ravindra Jadeja were involved in a wholesome moment during the match.

The star all-rounder, who was suffering from a knee injury, made his comeback in an international match after a five-month gap. Jadeja played the first Test of the series after 5 months and performed brilliantly as he was named the player of the match. However, during the third Test, despite their past controversy, Jadeja and Manjrekar were seen hugging and shaking hands with each other.

Interestingly earlier, both Jadeja and Manjrekar were engaged in a social media war when Manjrekar called Jadeja a ‘bits and pieces player’ in 2019 before India vs New Zealand match in the World Cup semi-final. The term means someone who is slightly good at batting and in bowling neither is his strength.

To this, Jadeja lashed out at Manjrekar and said, “Still, I have played twice the number of matches you played and I’m still playing. Learn to respect people who have achieved. I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea Sanjay Manjrekar.”

Australia's brilliant all-round performance in the 3rd Test

Talking about the 3rd Test match of the Border-Gavaskar series, India opted to bat first after winning the toss and displayed a horrible batting performance as they were restricted by the Australian bowlers to just 109 runs. Indian bowlers also bowled brilliantly as they dismissed the Australian batters with a score of 197 runs. Umesh Yadav bowled very well on this turning surface of Indore. He got rid of the Australian lower order easily.

However, the Indian batters didn’t learn anything from the mistakes they made in the first innings and bowled out for just 163 runs in the second innings. Nathan Lyon ripped apart India’s strong-looking batting line-up as he dismissed 8 Indian batters. Pujara was looking good in the middle and smashed a brilliant half-century, but Steve Smith’s outstanding catch in the leg slip made him walk away to the pavilion.

The third day started with Australia needing 76 runs to win the 3rd Test, and they didn’t take too much time as they achieved the target in the first session of the day and sealed their spot in the WTC final which will be played in June.
