The day that all cricket fans were waiting for finally arrived as India took on Australia on the First Day of the World Test Championship Final at the Kennington Oval. Day 1 was expected to be the bowlers' delight, but as it turns out, batters had a great time as the sun was out throughout the day.

Winning the toss, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma opted to bowl first to take advantage of the overcast conditions. While Mohammed Siraj managed to get Usman Khawaja out for a 10-ball duck, there was not much to be happy for the bowlers.

David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne put on a 69-run partnership for the second wicket to help Australia recover from a shaky start to their innings. Warner was in fine form, hitting eight boundaries in his 43-ball knock before he was dismissed by Shardul Thakur just before lunch.

Marnus Labuschagne also was unable to continue his innings for long, as he was dismissed by Mohammed Shami shortly after lunch. The fast bowler was in top form, and he uprooted Labuschagne's stumps with a brilliant full-length delivery that moved just outside the line of the ball.

Travis Head did not spare any Indian bowler

Travis Head took on the responsibility of scoring quick runs for Australia, with Steve Smith providing good support. The left-handed batter scored a quickfire century while keeping the boundaries in check. The short ball was a problem for Head throughout the game, but the Indian bowlers were unable to capitalize on it.

The Indian bowlers went wicketless for the better half of the day as the last came in the 25th over of the day. At the end of Day 1, the Kangaroos managed to score 327/3, with Travis Head and Stev Smith unbeaten on 146 (156) and 95 (227) balls, respectively.Β The team led by Rohit Sharma would look to get some early wickets on Day 2 to put the Australians on the back foot after a horrific outing on Day 1.
