Post losing the first ODI, India faced off Bangladesh in the second ODI on December 7, Wednesday and the Bangla Tigers proved their prowess yet again, making India work hard to level the series. As things stand, it was Bangladesh who won the toss and elected to bat first on a crucial day.
Eventually, it was not an ideal start for the Litton Das-led team as they lost 6 wickets before gathering 70 runs on the board. However, the 148-run stand between Mohammad Mahmadullah and Mehidy Hasan ensured the Bangla Tigers put on a decent total on the board at the end of the first innings.
To add more, the Bangla Tigers put on 271 runs on the board at the end of 50 overs and put India on the back foot right away. Eventually, Hasan reached the three-figure mark in no time and made a name for himself in the international arena.
India fight hard in second ODI
Regarding India’s chase, the team opened the innings in the absence of Rohit Sharma as he walked off the field due to a thumb injury in the first innings. Eventually, openers Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli disappointed the team management as they perished for 8 and 5 runs respectively.
Post their departure, Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel joined hands for the 5th wicket and put on a partnership of 107 runs, bringing India back into the game. Eventually, Iyer made his way back to the dressing room after playing a crunch knock of 82 while Axar perished for 56 runs.
While many predicted that Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur could take India home, the latter returned to the dressing room after amassing only 7 runs. Much to the stupefaction of the Indian fans, Rohit stepped onto the field in the hope to take India home and fans were worried that it might cost him his fitness. The right-handed batter gave his best and eventually it was Bangladesh who won the game by 5 runs.
As things stand, let us take a look at a few Twitter reactions to the clash between India and Bangladesh on Wednesday:

The existence of the Bangladesh cricket team is the ultimate evidence that the days of All Format Best Teams or All Format Best players are over. The three formats require vastly different skillsets and suit different strengths and weaknesses. #BANvIND
