After destructive batting performance from skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan, India are looking in a commanding position in the second Test. The team needs only eight wickets to win the game, while the West Indies trail India by 289 runs on Day 4. Starting from the morning session, India had a plan to counter hosts. They executed it well and placed themselves in a comfortable position.
Starting from 229/5, the West Indies failed to hold their nerves against the Indian pacers. Using the second New ball, Mohammed Siraj made some early breakthroughs that helped India get into a commanding position. The visitors bowled out the West Indies for 255/10 and took a lead of 183 runs in the first innings. For the West Indies, skipper Kraig Braithwaite was the top scorer with 75 runs off 235 balls with the help of Five fours and a six. Meanwhile, Siraj took five wickets and posted his best bowling performance in Carrebian.
In response, India got off to a flying start as opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma added 98 runs for the first wicket in just 11.5 overs. Their partnership broke many records, including the fastest 50-run partnership in Test cricket. Jaiswal, in his innings, scored 38 runs off 30 balls with the help of four fours and a six.

Meanwhile, India skipper Rohit Sharma completed his second half-century of the tour. Rohit, in his innings, scored 57 runs off 44 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes. However, after their departure, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan added 79 unbeaten runs for the third wicket.
Gill, in his innings, scored an unbeaten 29 runs off 37 balls with the help of a four. On the other hand, Kishan scored his maiden Test half-century as he hammered 52 runs off just 34 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes. With a commanding lead of 365 runs, India declared their second innings for 181/2.
In the end, ace India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin clinched two wickets and pushed the West Indies way behind in the game. Ashwin dismissed opener Kraig Braithwaite for 28 runs off 52 balls as he was building a partnership with T. Chandrapaul. Chandrapaul, in his innings, scored an unbeaten 24 runs off 98 balls and remained not out till the stumps.
Meanwhile, Krik McKnezie also failed to score runs as he was dismissed by Ashwin for a duck. The West Indies ended Day 4 with 76/2 and will need 289 runs to win the game. However, India needs just eight wickets to sweep the Test series.
