The 36th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 between Royal Challengers and Kolkata Knight Riders turned out to be very one-sided. KKR doubled up on RCB this season as they beat them by 21 runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Virat Kohli, for the third time this season, captained the RCB side, and after winning the toss, he decided to bowl first. Narayan Jagadeesan and Jason Roy had a great start with the bat as they added 83 runs in the opening partnership. However, the former could not last long as he was dismissed in the 10th over after scoring 27 runs.

Roy, on the other hand, reached his half-century before being bowled in the same over after scoring 56 runs in 29 balls. Following that, it was captain Nitish Rana and Venkatesh Iyer's turn to bat for KKR. While the partnership got off to a poor start, they went on to amass 80 runs in 44 balls.

While Iyer scored 31 runs off 26 balls, the skipper scored 48 runs off 21 balls. In the end, KKR scored 200 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Virat Kohli's half-century goes in vain

Despite losing Faf du Plessis early on, stand-in skipper Virat Kohli led Bangalore off to a flying start. He scored yet another half-century in the season but did not get much support from the middle-order batters. He scored 54 runs in 37 balls, while the next highest-scorer was Mahipal Lomror, with 34 runs in 18 balls.

Dinesh Karthik, who has been out of form, was dismissed by his Tamil Nadu teammate, Varun Chakravarthy. He got out after hitting 22 out of 18 balls, including one four and one six. Suyash Prabhudessai and Wanindu Hasaranga also struggled with the bat. Once again, RCB's bowlers gave up too many runs, and the batters did not show up in the chase. In the end, KKR won by a comfortable margin of 21 runs.
