On October 15, the eagerly awaited India-Pakistan World Cup match is slated to take place in Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. Babar Azam, the captain of the national team, told the media prior to the Test series versus Sri Lanka that the team's eyes are firmly fixed on winning and that their attention is not just on a single opponent instead it is on defeating all 10 nations they will encounter in the competition.

“Our main aim is to dominate, represent Pakistan and bag the victory”: Babar Azam

Pakistan’s all-format skipper said, "We are going to play the World Cup not only against India. There are nine other teams as well with whom we have to play our respective matches. We will only be able to reach finals once we defeat all of them. Our focus is not on one team; our focus is on ten teams altogether. Our plan is to play equally good against all ten teams so that we can reach the finals."

The right-handed batsman emphasised that the team is ready to adjust to all settings, weather conditions, along with playing surfaces and that it is imperative to continue to play at a high level against all opposition. Babar Azam then promptly answered the question regarding the venues in which his team is going to play.

He said, "Our stance is to play cricket regardless of the venues because, as a professional, you have to be ready for everything, including different conditions and different environments. This is what the real challenge is. Our main aim is to dominate, represent Pakistan and bag the victory, not only securing a win against one particular team."

The matches between India and Pakistan are incredibly tight and the tension is readily sliced with a knife. The talisman batter appears to have a different opinion and is committed to going above and beyond in their quest for success.

When comparing Pakistan and India during the ODI World Cup, the head-to-head statistics tell a sad story for Pakistan but a happy story for India. Throughout the ODI World Cup history, India and Pakistan have played each other seven times, with India winning each match.
