The 32nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is being played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, April 23. RR skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and invited RCB, who are also donning the ‘Go Green’ jersey, to put runs on the scoreboard.

RCB didn’t have a great start as they lost their captain Virat Kohli on a golden duck by the veteran left-arm pacer Trent Boult. However, the star allrounder Glenn Maxwell took the responsibility on his shoulder and accelerated the run rate with the impact player Faf du Plessis. Maxwell hammered every single bowler who came to bowl against him.

Maxwell was doing well until he decided to smash a reverse hit to Ravichandran Ashwin but was only able to find a fielder at the backward Point and Jason Holder did no mistake to send him back to the pavilion. Maxwell scored 77 runs off 44 deliveries which included 6 fours and 4 sixes. He also stitched a brilliant 127-run stand with du Plessis (62 off 39) for the 3rd wicket and it came when the team need the most.

Brilliant comeback by the RR bowlers

Despite the brilliant partnership between Maxwell and du Plessis, RCB managed to put up 189 runs on the board. Interestingly, at one stage, it looked like they will score around 220 but they started losing back-to-back wickets in the end which stopped them to cross the 200-run mark and as always the middle and lower order disappointed the fans again.

Meanwhile, Maxwell has also completed 1000 runs for RCB. He has been one of the most consistent performers for RCB lately and has scored the most runs for Bangalore ever since making his debut for the franchise. He scored 513 runs in the IPL 2021, 301 runs in IPL 2022, and currently got scored more than 200 runs in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. He also got the best strike rate among batters who have scored more than 1000 runs for RCB.
