The star Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur has come up with a big statement after the end of the third day’s play in the ongoing World Test Championship 2023 final against Australia. Notably, India are almost on the back foot in the match as the Aussies have taken a lead of 296 runs in the second innings with a score of 123 runs for the loss of four wickets.

Meanwhile, a lot of the experts of the game have almost predicted India’s defeat owing to the possible big target that Australia might set in the fourth innings for India. But amidst all this, Shardul Thakur has come up with an optimistic approach for India.

"One good partnership and anything can happen. You can chase down 450 or even more than that, but too early to make any predictions" said Shardul Thakur after the end of third day’s play at The Oval.

Subsequently, a lot of cricket fans came up with a lot of opinions and a few also took a dig at the confidence Thakur showed in his statement.

Here’s how fans reacted:

Talking about the action of the match before the start of the fourth day, Australia had scored 123 runs for the loss of four wickets having Marnus Labuschagne and Cameron Green there in the middle on the individual scores of 41 and 7 runs respectively.

Other than these two, the first-innings stars Steve Smith and Travis Head got trapped by the star Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja in the second innings. Smith and Head could contribute only 34 and 18 runs respectively in the second innings.

Earlier at the start of the innings, the openers, Usman Khawaja and David Warner failed to give a strong start and both of them went back to the pavilion on the team’s total score of only 24 runs.

Ravindra Jadeja has scalped two wickets for India so far alongside one wicket each claimed by Mohammed Siraj and Umesh Yadav in the second innings.
