The five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) clashed against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 42nd match of the Indian Premier League 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April 30. The contest witnessed a run-fest from both sides, however, MI emerged victorious at the end as they chased a monumental total of 212 runs and won the match by 6 wickets.

However, after the match, MI skipper Rohit Sharma came to talk about the match in the post-match presentation with Harsha Bhogle and the latter wished Rohit on his 36th birthday. But suddenly the right-hander interrupted Bhogle and said it was his 35th not 36th birthday, Bhogle thought he was wrong and apologised but the Rohit himself revealed that he was just joking and it was indeed his 36th birthday.

Harsha: Everything happened today. 150th game as captain, 190th for MI, 36th birthday, and like it happened last year.

Rohit: 35th, not 36

Harsha: Oh, they gave you one more. Good correction

Rohit: No, no, it's 36th (bursts into laughter)

Talking about the match, RR chose to bat first after winning the toss, and with the help of young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal's explosive 124-run innings, which came off just 63 balls, was able to amass a whopping total of 212 runs in just 20 overs. Jaiswal scored a stunning knock, hitting 16 fours and 8 sixes. The only bowler for MI to bowl well was Piyush Chawla, who only allowed 34 runs in his 4 allotted overs and took 2 wickets.

When trying to reach the target, MI didn't get off to a good start because they lost Rohit in the second over on the score of just 3 runs and Ishan Kishan was also dismissed after scoring only 28 runs slowly. However, Suryakumar Yadav and Cameron Green changed tactics and scored some quick runs.

Both players looked strong and at one point it appeared as though they would chase the target easily, but they both left. In the end, Tim David assumed control of the situation and hit three consecutive sixes in the game's final over. With 3 balls remaining, he led the team to their fourth victory of the year.
