The Indian Cricket Board shocked many fans on June 23 when they announced the Test and ODI squad for the upcoming tour of the West Indies. Indian veteran Test batter Cheteshwar Pujara wasn’t included in the Test squad which left many fans and cricket experts shocked.

It is to be believed that India’s embarrassing 209-run loss in the WTC 2023 final against Australia is the main reason behind Pujara’s exclusion. However, there were other batters too who failed to contribute anything special to the team. Meanwhile, Pujara posted a video on his Twitter handle in which he can be seen having a net practice session. Many fans have reacted to the video and some fans have also wished him to make a comeback.

Watch the video here:

Pujara spent a lot of time in County cricket and even performed pretty well but couldn't continue his form in the WTC final. However, it is being reported that he will continue to play County cricket. The right-hander will also be seen playing in the upcoming Indian domestic league 'Duleep Trophy'. It'd be interesting to see if he will make his comeback in the Test team again or not.

Talking about the squad, there are high chances of seeing some new players making their debut for the Indian team in the Test format. The 21-year-old young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal impressed a lot of fans in the recently concluded IPL 2023. Now he has been selected in the Test squad while another magnificent opener Ruturaj Gaikwad got a chance to don the white jersey. Ajikya Rahane, who made his comeback after almost a year in the WTC final, is appointed as the vice-captain of the team.

India’s Test Squad: Rohit Sharma (Capt), Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ajinkya Rahane (VC), KS Bharat (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), R Ashwin, R Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat, Navdeep Saini
