Former India skipper Virat Kohli played only two Tests and an ODI game during India's tour of West Indies 2023. During the three-match ODI series, he and India skipper Rohit Sharma played one game although they were selected for the whole series. Apart from this, they were rested for the five-match T20I series just like they have been doing so in the shortest format.

Meanwhile, at this point, the first-choice player has also been rested for the Ireland series. They will return to the fold for the Asia Cup 2023 later this month. Ahead of the continental tournament, Kohli has already started his training. He uploaded a video of doing a cardio session on a treadmill on Twitter.

Virat Kohli doesn't care about breaking records anymore: Robin Uthappa

Meanwhile, during an interview, T20 World Cup 2007 winner, Robin Uthappa said that Kohli doesn't care about breaking records anymore. The latter has 46 ODI hundreds to his name and is only four away from Sachin Tendulkar's (49) tons. During the Asia Cup, India is expected to get past the first round as they will play arch-rival Pakistan and debutants, Nepal.

The 2008 U19 World Cup-winning skipper is believed to break Tendulkar's record although that won't be easy. Meanwhile, Robin has said that breaking records isn't Kohli's first objective.

"Virat (Kohli) doesn't really care about breaking records anymore. We as people and fans are obsessed with it. He would much rather win matches for India irrespective of those hundreds. Virat's focus will be on winning matches for India in the Asia Cup and World Cup. He doesn't really care about the records," Uthappa, who is a cricket expert for JioCinema, told TimesofIndia.comย in an interview.

"Whether he (Virat) achieves that milestone (breaking Sachin's ODI centuries record) during the Asia Cup, World Cup or at any (other) point in his career, it doesn't matter because his sole focus is on winning matches for India, not his hundreds," Uthappa further toldย TimesofIndia.com.
