'Bhot mara, dhaga khol diya' - Fans go berserk as MI thrashes RCB by 6 wickets chasing 200 runs

Mumbai Indians (MI) have shown a dominant performance against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as they defeated them by 6 wickets in match number 54 of IPL 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium. Batting first, RCB posted a total of 199 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. In reply, MI chased the winning total in just 16.3 overs losing 4 wickets.

Talking about the match, MI skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first. RCB didn’t have a great start as they lost the first 2 wickets for 16 runs in 2.2 overs. After that, skipper Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell took charge of the innings as they both put up a partnership of 120 runs for the third wicket.

Maxwell got out after smashing 68 runs off 33 balls hitting eight fours and four sixes. While Plessis scored 65 off 41 balls hitting five fours and three sixes before getting out in the 15th over. After his dismissal, Kedar Jadhav and Dinesh Karthik took the innings further by adding 39 runs for the sixth wicket.

Karthik got out after scoring quickfire 30 runs off 18 balls with four fours and a maximum. While Jadhav remained unbeaten on 12 runs off 10 balls and Wanindu Hasaranga (12 off 8) added the finishing touches as RCB fell one run short of 200 runs. For MI, Jason Behrendorff scalped 3 wickets, while Cameron Green, Chirs Jordan, and Kumar Kartikeya shared a wicket each.

Chasing the winning total, MI got a flying start as the skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan added 51 runs for the first wicket in 4.4 overs. Rohit’s terrible season continued as he got out for just 7 runs off eight balls. While Kishan got out after a quickfire knock of 42 runs off 21 balls hitting four fours and fours sixes.

After that, Surykumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera took charge of the innings as the duo put up a partnership of 140 runs for the third wicket. Suryakumar got out after smashing 83 runs off just 35 hitting seven fours and six sixes taking the game far away from RCB. While Wadhera remained unbeaten on 52 runs off 34 balls with four fours and three sixes. He finished the game with a six in the 17th over as MI chased 200 runs with 21 balls to spare. For Vyshak Vijay Kumar and Wanindu Hasaranga took 2-2 wickets each.
