WATCH: Premature fireworks leave fans and commentators stun during BBL match

During the game there were surprising moment when fireworks were let off during the game, and the spectators were clueless as to why they had burned throughout the contest.

The 13th Big Bash League (BBL) match is currently underway and the tournament is almost halfway through. During the 20th game between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars. Melbourne Stars clinched a tremendous win against Adelaide Strikers on Sunday. Stars were helped by a stunning knock from Marcus Stoinis who scored 55 off 19 balls as they chased down a mammoth total of 207. 

During the game, there were surprising moments when fireworks were let off during the game, and the spectators were clueless as to why they had burned throughout the contest. The commentators at Adelaide Oval appeared surprised and puzzled by the very same thing. This was nothing but the pre-celebration of the New Year in the country as it is the first country to celebrate the event ahead of any other nation.

The video went viral on social media, there was a clarification regarding the premature fireworks in the game. The commentators were surprised as they felt it to be a premature celebration for the home side as a part of winning the game against the Stars, and later on revealed it was not for the very reason they thought about.

Fans surprised with premature fireworks

Guha during the commentary said, "They have got it early, at the Adelaide Oval. The pyrotechnics are here!." "He's hit the wrong button," said Kerry O'Keefe. He further added, "You gotta lose." On New Year's Eve, the Oval recorded a crowd of 42,000+ in the stadium, which is the highest attendance in the ongoing season of the tournament. Even the crowd was being entertained with the celebratory fireworks. Sydney is about to launch into the new year with tonnes of fireworks.

Batting first the Strikers posted a total of 206/4, with Chris Lynn and Matt Short scoring half-centuries respectively. The former scored 83 off 42 balls hitting 10 fours and 4 sixes. The skipper on the other hand scored 56 runs. In reply, Glenn Maxwell's side chased down the target easily scoring 19 in the last two overs and finishing the game one over ahead.
