All-India senior selection committee has decided to release left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat ahead of the second Test against Australia. The second test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is scheduled to being on February 17 in the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. However, the team has not announced any replacement for the pacer.

The left-arm medium-fast bowler is set to join the Saurashtra team for the finals of the Ranji Trophy 2022-23. He will lead the team in the finals against Bengal which will take place at Eden Gardens, Kolkata from February 16. The former India U19 player made his Test return during India's tour of Bangladesh last year and was part of India's ongoing Test series. India has the likes of Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Umesh Yadav in the pace attack. Although only two of them will be playing as India is going with three spinners in the series.

Notably, Saurashtra has qualified for the finals of the Ranji Trophy for the third time in the last four years. The Arpit Vasavada-led side defeated Karnataka by four wickets in the semi-finals on February 12. On the other hand, Bengal easily overcame defending champions Madhya Pradesh in the second semis.
