The Hyderabad-based franchise did not have the best start to their Indian T20 League 2023 campaign as Rajasthan defeated them by 72 runs. The team, however, was without some of their overseas players as they were busy with their international team commitments. Aiden Markram, Marco Jansen, and Heinrich Klaasen all missed Hyderabad's first match.

All three were involved in South Africa's three-match ODI series against the Netherlands at home. In Markram's absence, Bhuvneshwar Kumar captained the team in the first game. However, all of these players have now joined the Hyderabad camp ahead of their second game. Fans went crazy when they saw the image of the three star players.

Hyderabad named Aiden Markram as their new captain before the season began. The star Protea batter previously won the SA20 tournament while captaining the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, owned by the Hyderabad team. He impressed everyone with his bat and part-time off-spinning abilities in that tournament. Markram was named Player of the Tournament after scoring 366 runs and taking 11 wickets.

After being appointed as the captain of the Hyderabad and getting the opportunity to work with Brian Lara, Markram said: “Very excited. We have worked briefly together last year when he was batting coach and we got on really well, certainly looking forward to working with him. We actually going to meet up now, he is the batting coach for the West Indies Test series. So we are going to see each other a bit in the next two weeks”.

“We discussed yesterday that that’s where we would start our planning in terms of the brand of cricket we would be playing and those sort of things. I am pretty sure we both will be on the same page when it comes to play a nice positive brand of cricket where guys can fully express themselves,” Markram added.
