In the third and last ODI of the series, West Indies and India locked horns. For the first time in many years, an ODI series between both teams went into a decider being 1-1 in the series. Meanwhile, once again, the Men In Blue decided to rest senior players such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for the game.

After all, had the team played brought them back, they would have faced criticism for not giving enough chances to youngsters. Meanwhile, in the game, the home team, West Indies won the toss and elected to bowl first. The decision started proving wrong as Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill put together 143 runs in just 19.4 overs. Both players maintained seven runs per over.

Kishan scored 77 off 64 balls including eight fours and three sixes. Ruturaj Gaikwad, who played an ODI cricket after two years could only get eight runs. Sanju Samson made the most of his second opportunity as he got 51 off 41 balls. In the end, Hardik Pandya’s unbeaten 70 and Suryakumar Yadav (35) helped the team reach 351/5.

West Indies had no chance of chasing the target

In reply, the Men In Maroon kept losing wickets and chances to chase down the target. In the first over, Mukesh Kumar removed Brandon King. Kyle Mayers suffered the same fate. Kumar further dented the home side as he took the wicket of Shai Hope in the seventh over.

Jaydev Unadkat, who played his first ODI after 2013, took the wicket of Keacy Carty. Shimron Hetmyer, who is making his comeback in ODI cricket, couldn’t do much. Shardul Thakur took four wickets while Kuldeep Yadav took two. At one stage, the home side was reduced to 88/8. The Alzarri Joseph and Gudakesh Motie batted well and took the team to 151 all-out, losing the game by 200 runs. With this, India managed to win the series 2-1 which they could have won 3-0.

Now, both teams will play the five-match T20I series.
