Former India skipper Virat Kohli was seen enjoying himself on the sidelines during the first Test between India and the West Indies. On Day Three, India amassed 421/5 declared after starting the day on 320-odd for two. Yashavi Jaiswal, who scored his maiden Test century on Day Two, scored 171 runs. On the other hand, Kohli scored 76 and missed out on his overseas Test in 2018.
His last overseas Test hundred came in Australia in 2018-19. Since then, the right-hander is yet to score an overseas hundred. Meanwhile, the team managed to bowl out West Indies for 130, winning the game by an innings and 141 runs.
“Shubman Gill will take Virat Kohli’s place in the India side once Virat retires,” Chopra said, as being quoted by Sports Tiger.

I may be wrong. But I feel Virat s fire within him especially while playing as captain in test cricket is not there anymore. He has become more subdued and I feel that is reflecting in his batting. He has been scoring 50s n 70s, but that fire to go a notch above is missing.

The fact that he is enjoying the game literally shows that he is in a great space as he himself has mentioned in recent interviews. Just a matter of time before he gets that elusive away test ton.
