Tushar Deshpande, one of the heroes from the Chennai Super Kings team reached his hometown in Mumbai and received a huge welcome from his family and fans. The pacer took 16 wickets in 16 matches and helped the MS Dhoni-led side clinch their 5th IPL trophy.
Upon winning the IPL trophy the right-hand bowler headed home and was given a hero's welcome from his friends and family. An image of Deshpande standing from his car's sunroof is going viral on social media.
Although Deshpande helped CSK take wickets when they needed it the most, his poor economy rate of 9.92 has often been a centre of debate among fans. Many have claimed that it was often the cause of the monumental score against Chennai.
This is how Twitter reacted to Deshpande's welcome in his hometown:

But he gave me the IPL moment of the year for 2023 of Indian 🇮🇳 captain and he literally also showed how privileges work in India 🇮🇳
Indians who are supporting him even after a thrashy 2 years career 🫠

He might be a run machine the entire season. But remember he was our best bowler whenever we needed wickets after Jaddu bhai

CSK level with MI
With their 5th IPL title, the MS DHoni-led side have levelled with Mumbai Indians who have the same number of titles in IPL. In the final, Gujarat Titans were invited to put runs on the board by Dhoni in what was a rain-affected match.
GT posted a decent 214/4 on the board in a batting-friendly track. Sai Sudharsan turned out to be the most impactful batter for GT making a characterful 96 off 47. Wriddhiman Saha with 54 off 39 and Shubman Gill with 39 off 20 also contributed towards a good total. Matheesha Pathirana (2), Deepak Chahar (1) and Ravindra Jadeja (1) were the wicket-takers from CSK.
In reply, CSK were given quite a scare when the target was adjudged to 171 due to the onset of rain. Chennai batters however came good with the bat and continued to creep toward the target in an assured fashion.
It was however Jadeja who came out as the hero of the match as he hit a 6 and four on the last two balls to snatch victory from the title holders.
