Talking about the match, Australia opted to bat first after winning the toss and it proved a great decision as they scored 480 runs in the first innings. The left-handed opener Usman Khawaja was the highest scorer from the Australian team as he scored 180 runs off 444 deliveries, which included 21 fours. He was well supported by the star all-rounder Cameron Green, who also smashed a hundred and scored 114 runs off 170 deliveries which included 18 fours.

The Indian bowlers had to toil more in the end as the Australian tailenders also contributed some crucial runs to the scoreboard. R Ashwin was the highest wicket-taker for India as he picked up 6 wickets. While coming to bat, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill started brilliantly and both looked solid as well on the pitch.
