Former India cricketer, Ambati Rayudu has been signed by former Caribbean Premier League winners, St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. He retired from international cricket in 2019 and from IPL 2023 ahead of the final. After the 16th season of the cash-rich league, Rayudu signed with CSK's franchise in the United States, Texas Super Kings. However, before the right-hander could play, the Indian Cricket Board implemented a cooling-off period for retired players.

As per the rule, the retired players, either from IPL or international cricket from India will have to wait for one year to be eligible for playing overseas leagues. This is why the former Mumbai Indians player couldn't play in the US last month. If Rayudu is cleared, he will play for the 2021 winners of the CPL. In 2020, Pravin Tambe became the first Indian to play the league for eventual winners, Trinbago Knight Riders.

Apart from this, Shreyanka Patil will make her debut for Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Women's CPL.

Really excited to play for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots: Ambati Rayudu

After the signing, the former India cricketer expressed his excitement to play the league.

"I'm really excited to be joining the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. I look forward to having a positive contribution for the team in the upcoming CPL 2023," Rayudu said.

Patriots owner Mahesh Ramani said in a statement, "I am sure Ambati's seasoned expertise of having won multiple championships with various teams in an illustrious career in India will undoubtedly enrich the experience of our young players as we chase our second CPL title in 2023."

TA Adhishwar, the director of cricket at Patriots, is also looking forward to working with Rayudu: "I am really excited to welcome Ambati to the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. He is one of the most decorated players in the IPL and we have seen how important experience is in big tournaments like this. I look forward to him sharing his wealth of experience with the team."
