Australian opener David Warner has called time on his ODI Career. The left-handed batter has decided to quit the format while he bids adieu to the Test format on the 3rd of January. Sydney Cricket Ground will be the venue where the Australian opener plays his final game against Pakistan
The news came early on Monday morning as the world was celebrating the arrival of 2024. David Warner played a huge role in Australia’s sixth ODI World Cup triumph in 2023. The announcement has left a lot of cricket fans in utter state of shock.
While making his decision public the outgoing opener made one more call. The 37-year-old said that he will still make himself available in 2025 for the Champions Trophy if needed. As per Warner if a scenario or need arises he will be ready to come back to the ODI format.

Australian opener David Warner has decided to call time on his ODI Career. During a press conference in Sydney, the left-handed batter made this call on the eve of his final Test Match against Pakistan.
David Warner said “I’ve got to give back to the family and also on the back of that 9i’m retiring from ODI Cricket as well. That was something that I said throughout the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign, get through that, and winning in India, I think that’s a massive achievement”
The Australian opener was in prime during the ODI World Cup edition. Centuries against Pakistan and the Netherlands in successive games sealed his legendary status in the sport and the ODI format.
Before he finished his press meet, Warner though gave some hope to the fans “I know a Champions Trophy is coming up. If am playing decent Cricket in two years and I’m around and they need someone, I’m going to be available”
