MS Dhoni in LLC

MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni has been the most successful captain in the world of cricket. Dhoni is the only captain in the world to have won all three major trophies in his captaincy spell for India. He retired from international cricket in the year 2020 but still continues to play the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He led the side to their fifth title in the previous edition as they defeated Gujarat Titans (GT).

Dhoni underwent knee surgery after the IPL and is recovering after the surgery. He recently met the CEO of League of Legends Cricket (LLC), Raman Raheja has sparked rumours about the former India captain probably playing in the tournament. Raman wants Dhoni to play for some more years in the yellow jersey. The batter has been rehabbing his knee injury and in a recent video, he was seen limping while stepping down from the stairs.

Raheja wants Dhoni to play till the age of 50 years in the toughest league in the world and then join the LLC. The likes of Gautam Gambhir, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, and Kevin Pietersen among others are part of the current season. There are 6 teams in LLC 2023 and former players from 16 nations are part of the second season of the tournament.

We grew up looking at our heroes: Raman Raheja

Raheja said after meeting Dhoni, "We have more than 100 crore cricket fans in our country and at least half of that outside of India as well. So when you have such a large population, and we grew up looking at our heroes, we never want them to retire. We say Dhoni should continue to play till he’s 50+ or maybe more than that."

"So it’s always hard when somebody like that retires, fans feel bad. So the idea was that they could extend their playing career and given that today’s cricket has become very competitive with youngsters and physical fitness coming up, the average age of a cricketer is actually coming down."
