The Indian Cricket Board has confirmed that the former India skipper has agreed with the terms of the Board and will continue as the head coach for the Men in Blue.

Rahul Dravid extends contract

Rahul Dravid's contract with the Indian Cricket Team expired after the final of ODI World Cup 2023. According to rumors, the former India captain is not interested in extending his contract. The Indian Cricket Board, however, has now offered Dravid a contract. The Indian Cricket Board has confirmed that the former India skipper has agreed with the terms of the Board and will continue as the head coach for the Men in Blue. The board wants Dravid's structure to remain and it was the main reason for them to give him the offer.ย 

During his previous tenure, the India team finished runners-up in both the World Test Championship (WTC) and the ODI World Cup and qualified for the semi-final of T20 World Cup 2022. The team performed exceptionally well under him, showing a good and aggressive brand of cricket. He replaced Ravi Shastri following a disappointing ICC T20 World Cup campaign in 2021, which witnessed India exit in the Super 12 stage.

This means VVS Laxman will be managing the second-string side and the India A team as well. The star batter was the front-runner if Dravid not have agreed to renew his contract. There will be the same set of assistant coaches who will be retained, Vikram Rathour (batting coach), Paras Mhambrey (bowling coach), and T Dilip (fielding coach) with Dravid.
