The India vs England Test series has given us some great performances by some phenomenal talents from both teams. The game-changing innings from Ollie Pope to get England back into the match in the 1st Test, the terrific bowling spells from Jasprit Bumrah and the comeback century from Shubman Gill are some of the. These performances have played an important role with the 5-match series already being 1-1 after the two. The series is currently balanced where both sides are in similar positions and will be looking to get ahead in the upcoming 3rd Test in Rajkot.
But the best player in the series has been none other than Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has had a good start to his career in international cricket. Jaiswal is currently the leading run-scorer in the series with 321 runs from the two matches at a phenomenal average of 80.25. The quickfire 80 in the 1st game and the terrific double century in the 2nd were the main highlights of the series featuring the flamboyant southpaw. This is already a great beginning to the test career of Jaiswal and we all are looking forward to seeing what he has in store for the last three games as well.
Pathan praising the young superstar
Former Indian pacer and 2007 T20 World Cup winner Irfan Pathan also had a lot to say about the young batter as well. Pathan has already compared the young batter to Sourav Ganguly as well where he stated “He’s an exciting player with a strong off-side game, reminiscent of Dada (Sourav Ganguly).” This is Pathan had to say while describing Jaiswal who is capable of scoring runs on both sides of the field. Pathan finally ended his statement saying “ If he continues playing for the next decade, we’ll discuss his game just as we did with Dada. Jaiswal is that Caliber of a player.”
These words of Pathan prove to us that Jaiswal is capable of going forward in his international career. To be compared to a cricketer like Sourav Ganguly, who was himself one of the top left-handed batters of his time says a lot about the player. Jaiswal still has a long way to go in the game, but what he has shown in his career so far is nothing short of incredible. The last three matches in the series will be another challenge for Jaiswal and everyone will want to see him give the same consistent performances which he has shown so far in the series.
