Usman Khawaja fiasco continues

Usman Khawaja was charged breaching the Cricket Governing Body, regulations for wearing a black armband during the first Test match against Pakistan in Perth. West indies bowling great Michael Holding slammed the apex cricket governing body. According to reports, Khawaja has been refused permission to wear a peace emblem on his shoes and bat during the Test match against Pakistan on Boxing Day.

During Sunday's training in Melbourne, he had a sticker on his bat and shoes that said "01:UDHR," which is a reference to Article One of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and featured a black dove. The opener had a meeting with Cricket Australia and it was brought to notice of the media that it is perfectly alright. Holding his latest humanitarian gesture has been turned down by the Cricket Governing Body.

Holding lashed to Cricket Governing Body Khawaja's scandal a "hypocrisy and lack of moral standing" and chastised it. Khawaja had previously requested to wear shoes bearing the phrases "all lives are equal" and "freedom is a human right" in support of those who are suffering as a result of the Israel-Hamas war, but they denied his request.

I have been following the Khawaja fiasco: Michael Holding

Holding told The Weekend Australian, "I have been following the Khawaja fiasco and I cannot say I'm surprised by the Cricket Governing Body's stance. If it had been most other organisations that showed some semblance of consistency with their attitude and behaviour on issues I could claim surprise, but not them. Once again, they show their hypocrisy and lack of moral standing as an organisation."

He questioned, "The Cricket Governing Body regulations say re messaging 'approval shall not be granted for messages which relate to political, religious or racial activities or causes'. So how the f*** people were allowed to take the knee for BLM and stumps were covered with LGBTQ colours?"

The 2nd Test match will be played on Tuesday December 26th and the Men in Green will hope to get a win in Australia to tie to the three match series.
