Gujarat Titans (GT) have been one of the finest teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since their debut in 2022. They became the champion of the IPL in the first season under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya. The team has shown some great cricketing fights in the toughest franchise league in the world. Now, they have let go of their skipper Pandya to the franchise where he started his IPL career, Mumbai Indians (MI). He has been traded in an all-cash deal of 15 crore INR.
In the previous edition also, they qualified for the final and lost a thriller against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Ahead of the retention a few reports claimed that Hardik and GT management had some differences and that’s the reason he wanted to leave the franchise. Rashid Khan and Kane Williamson were in contention for leading the side but they have made a shocking decision to give the star India opener the captaincy.
Shubman Gill has been announced as the new captain for GT and he is happy to take responsibility for the franchise and wants to play a good brand of cricket. The team would love to replace Pandya and pick some good all-round options in the mini-auction that is scheduled to take place on December 19 in Dubai, this is the first time that the auction will be held outside India. They have the most amount remaining in their purse with 38.15 crore INR
