Australia's pace trio

Australia is currently hosting Pakistan for a three-match Test series. The first Test is being played at Perth with Australia winning the toss and elected to bat first. The Aussies already gave their playing XI a day before the match. The pace trio of the hosts, Mitchell Starc, skipper Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazelwood is arguably the best pace trio of this generation in the longest format of the game. The pacers have shown some brilliant displays of bowling in the red-ball format and white-ball as well.

They are good friends on and off the field as well and their bonding reflects in the field. The trio always back each other and compliments each other as well. The trio has an opportunity to become the most successful pace troika for Australia during the ongoing series against the Men in Green. The legendary trio of Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee, and Jason Gillespie played 22 Tests together, winning 15 of them. On the other hand, Cummins and Co. have 14 wins out of the 25 Tests they have played in together.

McGrath has never lost a match on the home soil that is something that will set them apart. However, the current tri has more success across formats. They have picked a combined tally of 306 wickets after playing 25 Tests, at an average of 26.75. McGrath and Co. picked 243 wickets from 22 Tests.

There were some special moments, some special group photos afterward: Pat Cummins

Cummins had told Cricket Australia, "Mitch [Mitchell Starc] and Josh [Hazlewood] (and me) in particular, we're going to be mates for life. There will be plenty of times when we're reminiscing, and probably over the years we'll get better and better in our own mind than what we actually were."

"There were some special moments, some special group photos afterward (the 2023 win) that when you put side-by-side with 2015, the T20 World Cup a few years ago, the World Test Championship – it does give you that moment of reflection. You realise we've been able to achieve some pretty cool stuff together."
