Australia players produced a very poor display of fielding in their ongoing second ODI World Cup 2023 match against South Africa. The Aussies dropped multiple catches that eventually cost them as South Africa posted a big total of 311 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Meanwhile, in a hilarious turnaround of events, the fans in the stadium were also counting the dropped catches and misfielding efforts of the Australian players. The pictures and videos of this moment, are also making rounds on social media as soon as an X (formerly Twitter) user shared it on the microblogging site.

Australia in horrific position against South Africa after losing 5 wickets in run-chase

Speaking of the action of the match, the Aussie skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and asked South Africa to bat first. Batting first, the star opener and wicketkeeper-batter, Quinton de Kock smashed a brilliant century, scoring 109 runs off just 106 balls, with 8 fours and 5 sixes. He also stitched an outstanding opening partnership of 108 runs with skipper Temba Bavuma.

Other than De Kock, key middle-order batter Aiden Markram also scored a half-century, scoring 56 runs off 44 balls, with 7 fours and a six. Veteran pacer Mitchell Starc and star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell picked two wickets each for Australia, alongside one wicket each claimed by Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, and Adam Zampa.

At the time of filling this copy, the five-time World Cup champions, Australia are in a very miserable situation as they have lost 5 wickets just at the score of 70 runs in 17 overs. Marnus Labuschagne and Marcus Stoinis are there in the middle with individual scores of 8 and 5 runs, respectively.
