India and Bangladesh are locking horns with each other in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 match at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Stand-in Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hosain Shanto won the flip of the coin and decided to bat first. The opening pair of Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan stitched a brilliant first-wicket partnership of 93 runs in 14.4 overs before the latter fell prey to Kuldeep Yadav.

Tanzid and Litton played the crucial knocks of 51 and 66 runs, respectively for Bangladesh to provide a fiery start. But then came the time when Bangladesh started losing wickets at regular intervals. However, the veteran wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim and lower middle-order batter Mahmudullah played the knocks of 38 and 46 runs to help Bangladesh post a decent total of 256 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja scalped 2 wickets each for India, alongside one wicket each picked by Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav.

India face big blow Hardik Pandya sustains injury in first innings

Meanwhile, the hosts also faced a big blow during the first innings when star all-rounder Hardik Pandya got injured while bowling his first over. He was rushed out of the field in the middle of his over after three balls. Later, the former skipper Virat Kohli was introduced in the attack by skipper Rohit Sharma to complete Pandya’s remaining over.

Pandya went for scans just after he sustained the injury and he is likely to be ruled out of the next match of India against New Zealand. The men in blue will take on the unbeaten Blackcaps in their next match of the ODI World Cup 2023 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday, October 22.

Coming back to the ongoing match between India and Bangladesh, Rohit Sharma’s men are currently looking in a very good position during the match as they have restricted Bangladesh at the score of 256 runs, which was predicted to be 280 or 290 runs after the early fiery start of Bangladesh.
