Mayank Agarwal has been admitted to the hospital after falling ill on a flight. He has now filed a complaint with the Agartala police. He suspects that his condition is the result of foul play. The Indian opener was headed to Delhi after Karnataka defeated Tripura in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024. The team management filed a complaint, and the police are investigating the situation.

According to reports, he mistakenly drank liquid from a pouch in front of him, mistaking it for water. However, he stopped drinking when it no longer tasted like water. He complained of a burning feeling in his mouth and throat and was immediately taken to the hospital.

The India opener will not play in the next Ranji Trophy match against Railways. However, his teammates will travel to Rajkot to prepare for their forthcoming match. A police officer stated that Mayank is stable at the moment. A video of the police statement has gone viral.

SP West Tripura Kiran Kumar K stated, "Mayank Agarwal, an international cricketer, while sitting on a flight saw a pouch in front of him and thinking of it as water, drank it. He had swelling and ulcers in his mouth. His condition is normal, and his vitals are stable. His manager has made a complaint. We are registering the complaint and will investigate the matter." 

The 32-year-old batter bagged the Madhavrao Scindia Award at the Indian Cricket Board Awards 2024 for being the highest runscorer in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 season. The right-hander has been a stellar performer in domestic cricket and has also represented India. Agarwal scored 990 runs in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23, which included three centuries and six fifties. This was his second award as he won the same award in the 2018 season as well when he was the leading run-scorer for Karnataka in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, with 251 runs in seven matches.
